Thumbs up Sprocket Question

I have a 64 tooth rear sprocket. Im really not liking the way my bike feels when I try to stand it up in 2nd on up in the gears. It seems a little slugish with my 240lbs on my 900rr. Is there another sprocket I could pick up to help me get that extra torque Im looking for to pick it up in 3rd while going down the road?

pick it up in second and carry it to third. i have spent very little time on a 900 but from what i have i just dont know if you are going to get that big boy up in third at highway speeds. and if you gear it down far enough to get it to come up in third your revs will be sky high when curising at highway speeds

Yeah I have to Rev it out to pick it up. So is there any other sprockets out there that would help with this issue?

I think this would be better answered here with alittle more traffic, pertaining to your question.

But whats wrong with what sokanxx suggested. Bring it up in 2nd and click up to 3rd? I will look around and see if there is a bigger sprocket than a 64 tooth for your bike. BTW have you changed the front sprocket??? Go a tooth lower if not!!

Yeah take that cover off and count the teeth. Your stock gearing was 16/43.
You could technically go down to a 14 BUT its HARD on the chain. 15 tooth would do ya right and do what you need it too!!!

Really the 14T sprocket is likely going to wear out before your chain, lots of rotations on that little sprocket.

FYI at 7,000 RPMs in 6th w/ a 14T you would only be going about 67mph going to the 15T would get you about 72MPH.

WOW!! are you sure it's a 64 tooth sprocket? Thats a stunters sprocket, for slow speed tricks. your top end should max out around 65-70mph.

Couple of questions
Please clarify that it is a 64 tooth.

What are you trying to accomplish longer wheelies, faster ones?

sit down or stand ups?

Also I have a 94 FZR 1000 with a -1+2 and second gear wheelies are tough these bikes are longer and heavier than the newer bikes like my 929RR. But 3rd gear wheelies would be way to fast (80-100) without hitting the balance point.

I will double check the sprockets today while Im off . Im pretty sure there is a stamp on the rear sprocket. But I will count the teeth. I need to replace my chain anyway do I plan on buying everything new as soon as I find the correct parts.

My goal is to get the Stand ups down. Speed isnt really a factor for me. Im not the guy that likes to be ahead of the pack. But I do enjoy watching my buddy's ride stand ups for a few miles.
