Default :SOLD: 1987 Honda CBR600 F1 Hurricane

1987 Honda CBR 600 F1 Hurricane. This bike is the Pearl White/Red color scheme. Title has mileage discrepancy on it, other than that it's clean. Couldn't figure out from previous owner but I think the dash was replaced with another one that had a different mileage when the bike was laid down by a previous owner. Current mileage showing is 41,xxx miles.

Bike runs well and starts up on the first try. I have put a new OEM Honda air filter in, rebuilt the carbs and sync'd them with a manometer. Also put in new NGK plugs, flushed the coolant system, replaced the battery with a new one this year, done oil changes every 2000 miles with 10w-40 motorcycle oil and an OEM Honda oil filter.

This bike is not the cleanest bike out there. It has been laid down by previous owners but hasn't been down since I've gotten it. The fairings aren't in good condition but if you really want to use them they can be attached with a few bolts but some mounting points are missing so zip ties or the like must do. The bike looks fine with the fairings off too and stays cooler. Either way. New fairings are about $200 per side from Aerotech-Streamlining. The paint is not perfect on the bike or the frame but it's not horrible. Looks aside I used this bike to commute back and forth to work and just for fun. It got me where I needed to go every day.

It runs pretty good in it's current state. The exhaust is an aftermarket Vance & Hines from what I can see. It's not the typical street slip-on though. It seems to be a full exhaust with a race pipe on the back. VERY loud. It sounds gorgeous past 7000 rpm though. The bike came with a K&N filter when I got it but it ran horribly. After going back to the factory filter and doing the carbs it smoothed out a lot. If you added a jet kit to the carbs to get the fueling correct with the K&N filter and the full exhaust I'm sure it would be great.

My only reason for selling is that I want to upgrade to something bigger. I love this bike for it's lightweight and learner-friendly character which makes it great to learn on or to use for fun but I can't justify two bikes.

The bike will come with:
Extra set of NGK spark plugs
Oil and OEM Honda oil filter for one oil change
K&N reusable filter
Extra Stator cover with stator (has a bad plug on the end but still works).

The bike still needs some maintenance done, for example it needs a new drive chain and possibly a rear sprocket but you may get by with just the chain. It also needs a new cam chain tensioner since the factory one is getting loud and they all seem to be prone to this. A manual one can be picked up for $50 through APE.

You can ride this bike away as is. It still needs more work but it runs and rides and it's fun while doing it.

Please, NO trades. Cash only. Thanks

Asking $1200 OBO.

you still have this bike? Its not for me, for a friend that is learning to ride, he needs something fairly reliable (he's a backyard mechanic with cars, so he could probably figure out how to do some things on his own. and of course I'm around, but, hey, I'm the same way, backyard mechanic, with just enough knowledge to be dangerous)

post up and let me know..I'm not even sure he'd be interested, but was gonna show him the pics.
He wants a busa..LOL..but, I"m gonna get him on the honda train.

Wow, I had one of those back then. I had grey but painted it red. Brings back memories.
