CBR 1000F alternator question for methanol
Hi all. Was wondering if anyone out there knew the speed (RPM) of the alternator rotor relevant to the crank speed. I am looking at putting Hilborn mechanical methanol injection on my racebike and want to mount the pump where the alternator usually goes, but it needs to spin at half crank speed to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe, and I"m sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the alternator is directly attached to the end of the crank, so that would say to me, that it spins at the same rpm's as the crank does. Wes? Candrew? Dj? It almost seems like a trick question

Blade, the alternator on the 1000f's is gear driven or chain driven (I believe). It's not a flywheel/stator on the end of the crank type like on the 929 or even my 600F. Sorry, no help on the RPMs though. Suggest maybe taking off the crank cover and alternator cover and hand turning over the engine and counting rotations of crank vs. alternator.
Blade, I think this is a pic from a 1990 CBR1000F from parts microfiche.

Thanks Jimmy, I wasn't sure about the newer 1000's. All the bikes I've ever had, had the alternator bolted to the end of the crank. Learned something new! Thank you! And...Seeya in Burkesville!

If its gear or chain driven you can count teeth and figure out the ratio.

Yeah, not entirely sure. Haven't actually had my hands on a 1000F. Not even sure what year it is (don't know if it would matter). Just picked a year in the middle and pulled up the parts diagram of the alternator/generator.
