Default chain guard

found this, hopefully its helpful...

First think about what you want it to look like when your done. Sketch it out on paper. On mine, you can see that the back has the same angle as the foot guard. I wanted it short, just enough to protect my foot and pants, and to show off the chain.

Make a templet out of poster board. Then trial fit and make adjustments as needed. I used 3 templets to get it right. Next place the templet backwards onto the aluminum, if you use a hand jigsaw so when you cut it out you will only mar the inside.

I don't remember the gage of the aluminum, but it's about 1/16 inch thick. This I could bend at home and be stiff enough. The sheet of aluminum came from the hardware store.

To make the bend. I don't have a brake press, but I have a good vise mounted on my work bench. I clamped the aluminum between two peices of wood in the vise where the crease would be, then clamped two thin peices of wood on the exposed upper part where the crease would be.[make sure the wood strips are longer than the part] Use a large pipe wrench for leverage and start the bend. when you can't bend it down any more use a hammer and carefully finish the bend.

The picture shows the mounting part has a small bend, because the swing arm goes out and the chain is straight. I followed the chain.

There it is.
