I did the former on mine, pushed the flappers down, and "locked" them in place using the afore mentioned method, dyno shows similiar numbers to the graph earlier in the thread. 148hp topped out, but the curve for hp starts a little earlier, and is more pronounced. cheap mod to help gain low end hp and torque. I also don't hear any difference in my exhaust sound,
Carbon fiber Micron pipe and headers.

You don't get a huge gain in hp, you just get a little better throttle response, and torque at the lower rpms. its not a huge difference, but as was noted earlier in the thread, the bike runs a bit smoother in city traffic where your just putting along. It also bumps you up a little quicker in the dyno curve starting at around 4000 rpm...at least thats where mine starts to rise, prior to the mod it was at about 4400 rpm.

I should add that my bike is cammed, pcIII power commander, heads are decked, ported and polished, I have noticed somewhat of a fall off since I lost my cold air induction cowl, having it repaired, hoping to have it back on by spring. without the cold air induction, I do notice a little "airbox" noise, and my torque curve seems to have lost some..but hadn't dyno'd it yet with the new fairing in place..thats probably gonna be next weekend...if I can find the time and get a spot in line for the dyno
