guess you should've bought a Suzuki. Just kidding man. If its a carburated bike, and its sat awhile, the gas in the carbs can go bad, and gum them up, block ports, etc. you can try taking them off the bike, and cleaning them, but, if you've never done something like that before..I don't recommend it. We have several good write ups on how to rebuild carb's in the tech section. Oil and filter change never hurt, but wouldn't keep the bike from starting. If the bike is turning over, but not starting, it might be spark, if its popping from time to time, but not starting, thats probably a fuel issue..carbs, pump, etc. let us know how it works out.
Btw, kinda poor form to come on a Honda site, ask about a Honda bike, then, say "I ride Suzuki" don't you think? Most of us, if not all of us have several different makes and models of motorcycles...but, I love my Honda, she's a sweet machine...so, don't be dissin my bike homey. :"D (My wife rides an SV, so Its not like I don't mind a suzuki...

just happen to think that Honda makes a superior product.)
