Default f3 fuel problem

I have a 96 f3 and she just quit running. I checked and it seems there is no fuel getting to the carbs.( if i feed them directly she runs fine.) I checked the fuel filter and it is clean. I don't get any power at the fuel pump. Should there be power all the time going to the pump. Could this be a realy problem which is what I am leaning towards..if so where is the realy on this bike..any help will be appreciated..thank you

the relay is near the battery....

you shouldnt have any power to it until the ignition is turned on then is just pumps when needed. Look under the fuse panel by the right clipon, I cant remember if it has a pump fuse or not!? It may have just came unpluged from the harness, my bike did this and it took awhile for me to figure out the it came unplugged!

ok well to be honest I can't tell you if it only gets it when its turning over because I never had a reason until now to check it so I don't know. but I will check for loose wires near the fuse box and around the relay..the relay would have power when the key is in the on position should it not..and then send power to the pump when needed..

I don't know exactly it is wired, but i checked mine before I found out it did not get power unless I was cranking it by hooking it directly to the battery, with a hose connected to the outlet and back in a gas can, then I figured out that it did not run with only the key on, and I found a link with a kink in it, which was my problem all along. You could unplug it and hook a test light to it and see if it comes on when you turn it over.

Most fuel pumps in a fuel injected system have pressure regulators, that operate a relay to turn the pump on and off as the pressure rises and falls. Not sure if the same is true of carb'd bikes. I think in carb'd bikes the fuel pump should be running from the moment the key is turned on..if its an electric fuel pump. If you have a good tight system, the pump won't run unless it sees the necessary drop in pressure. also, there is another sensor that shuts down the fuel pump if the bike is on its side, (shuts off fuel in the event of a wreck) Not sure if your bike has that or not..but somthing else to check. I know, I know..thanks for nothing..LOL.
