i built my own subframe for the honda...
this thing is ongoing, ill see where it takes me this week. starting with exhaust and some frame work, its a shitcan but it runs and its uuber reliable, so i really cant complain. i dont want to make the thing useless, but i dont want it to be halfass. the quick throw together of this bike thus far was basically to give me an idea of where i want to go with it, now i can start tearing it apart. if i dont get it done, meh ive got the streetfighter right?

cant legally ride a bike with no front fender here, so fender stays. im so fuckin mad right now i dunno how much is going to be left of this thing when i start working on it again... i could very well just go get another frame and chop that shit up, in fact i think thats what im going to go do...

ve got my liscence plate, illuminator and taillight mounted up nicely, although the plate wont be mounted sideways, to avoid heat from the five oh im mounting it right way up. itll stick out a lot but its worth it and it doesnt look all that bad. i can still use the factory airbox (since its not actually possible to get it out without taking the carbs off the engine and i dont want to cut it up, d'ho!) and my new seat will be here tomorrow, its going to be a little longer than id hoped based on the description i got of it form the salesperson but im sure ill make something work, its an old harley style spring seat, 13 inches long (little much for my liking) and blue vinyl with white trim. cant wait to get it on the bike, and get the back fender mounted, then its on to rear signals.
lucky not having many miles on the bike, and it being stored all its life the old thing has good steel on it, it welded up nicely. heres hoping the seat install and fender goes well, im probably going to have to mount the battery box on the side, behind the plate which isnt where id hoped it would go but im pressed for space.
heat sync's solenoids and relays can all go in a small box between the airbox and fender without much difficulty and then hopefully shes buttoned up. if it wasnt much of a bobber before its at least a little bit closer now.
i might take the time to build a bottom half of the rear end and eliminate the swingarm, since ive got a pile of extra tubing still, it only took about four feet of the stuff to build the rigid rear top half, cant imagine it taking much more than that to build the bottom half. anyways, pics!
one step closer, tomorrow is the last day of work so ill see how much i can get done in one day!
the source of some headache and im sure plenty of headaches to come. btw this sucks on the highway.

sure thing bud!
how she looked yesterday morning...
new seat arrived!
after id mocked it up it was on to bracketry
and what to do with this hell of wires!?
anyways, finishing up, seat is mounted and bolted down, brackets welded on. fender also welded on now.
after a fresh coat of paint, some gloss black rust paint to end the day. fabbed up a cover for the wiring harness and relays etc., still gotta add signal lights to the back somehow. test ride went great, no bugs thus far cept a tiny chain contact on the fender, came to find the chain was a little more slack than id like so i adjusted it and no more contact. so thats how far i managed to get today, hopefully ill have a bottom half rigid tail finished before mid august, or so. in the mean time this is solid, ive seen guys put oodles of miles on setups like this without any problems. i have no doubts in its structural integrity, its very solid.
