alright, well yeah that seat was the first thing that went... yick!
lol and gildo, no i dont need attention but im not going to spend like a half hour posting pics of nobody cares, ive got things to do too. the tank bag on my cane is a magnetic bag, that also can be worn as a backpack, its an axio and i love it, its fricken awesome. can get a bit frustrating as a tank bag actually, i prefer it as a backpack but its nice to have it as an option of youre like me and cant bungee a backpack to your nonexistent tail section. lol
okay so anyways, heres where im at with the pics, i had a pile of build pics (about 20 or so) but then my camera got wet in the rain today and now all the pics are erased, in fact the memory card itself is completely bitched, so is my camera. thats pretty gay but whatever, i borrowed my moms camera to snap a couple "finished" shots.
finished up the paint and such and got her buttoned up and rideable today and was heading to regina with terry for the bike wash, but weather was not forgiving. needs a wash after today but then that figures.
anyways so thats the beast, was planning on doing pod filters and a hardtail, but right now i want it to be reliable and comfortable so ill change that stuff this winter maybe, if i change this bike much at all beyond this point. i may do forward controls, but so far the mid controls are too comfrotable to bother modifying, i might put some highway pegs up on the frame so as to stretch out a bit, and id like to go lower in the back and rake the front to match but thats another winter project, and needs to be done by a professional. might change it over to electronic ignition, but im going to learn to set points and keep on using the points ignition until it drives me nuts, ive heard that these bikes points system are reliable and long living. might put an oil cooler on it soon too and a set of pipes are going on it next week if all goes well, beyond that shes pretty well put together and the comfort is second to none, im pretty happy with it. not as bare bones or oldschool as the usual bobber project, but its reliable and rideable, and all the parts on it used are pre-80's, the authentic '68 sportster tank was a lucky find as was the blank harley back fender, bars are stock, tail lights and rear signals are truck lights. kick start is sweet too, she fires up like a champ every time.
the seat is remarkably comfortable, its made out of (obviously) an old liscence plate i found, a little pecie of angle iron, and a peice of maple hardwood. i spent four and a half hours on the padded zx-10 seat on my streetfighter after a half hour i wanted to stop pull over rip my ass cheeks clean off and keep going, i hated it! this thing on the other hand is so comfortable i spent three hours on it today and i feel like i could ride down the highway on that seat for weeks. strange... but awesome.

Sweet project, Eye! Hope the old 'Cane doesn't get too jealous having to share the garage and your time with the Kaw'. LOL Don't worry, mine doesn't. It lives in the garage with a shaft driven 1985 Kawasaki 700LTD. Good luck! Magnetic tank bags are the best. I hardly ever leave home without mine on the 'Cane. Got leather saddlebags on the Kaw'. I bet that old bike is comfortable to ride. Ugly or not, that "throne" was probably pretty comfy too. Keep the pics comin'. We love pictures and projects.

ill get some pics up when i do more work, for now shes done. pipes are gonna help the look and sound, but yeah. the cane is happy shes not the one getting cut up, and shes happy to get a break for a little while, its better to take a break out of love for the bike than ride it till it dies because you resent it. so yeah

i know... fucked up hey? the metal is soft, but springy so it gives but doesnt bend up very easily. i had to heat it to bend it to be where it is, and it doesnt like to kink and bend easily... but yeah it kinda springs itself to the shape of my ass its great.

I like the license plate seat. I thought that was a really cool idea. What else you gonna do to it? Also, how do you cut the seat short? Like you did on the Cane...
