Nike... the only way to go!
Just playin'... better listen to these guys. I don't wear boots but for several different reasons the main one is I don't have $200 to spend on them.
What part of Florida u from? I live in Panama City, u near that?

i live in the mojave desert. average summer temp of 105-110. i wear boots. found some decent frank thomas on sale for $60. not the best boots out there (i wanted some astars), but for $60, what are you going to do? the alpine stars i wanted were $399. after the picture of that foot, i am glad just to have some good protection. i say go safety first as much as possible. of course i am a newb, so what do i know.

i live in saskatchewan, it gets hotter here in the summer than some deserts, and im sitting here on my computer fresh from a hot summer nights ride with my combats still on. i could wear some skate shoes and cool my feet off, but i like my feet, id like to keep them for a while thanks.
if you wear SHOES on a bike youre already wrong. sorry man, but boots it or lose the kickers, thats the way it works. chances are you may never go down and have to worry about footwear. or chances are youll go down tomorrow and grind a toe off or something. do you wanna take that chance to look cool and have comfortable feet? i dont, i have the gnarliest, sweatiest most disgusting feet in the world and i aint givin em up for nobody. my combats are fiberglass reinforced, composite plastic toe heel and body, and tripple stitched double layer heavy grain gore tex leather, you better beleive aint nothin getting to my skin.
its worth the sweat and discomfort, and some riding boots out there are comfy man... just remember you dont have to look like a track monkey either, theres plenty of work boots and army issue boots out there that are heavy enough for a motorcycle, but look for gore tex heavy top grain leather, some kind of thin liner (so the friction doesnt burn your feet, hot leather sucks trust me) heavy laces and THICK soles, steel toe is good, plastic composite toe is best.
GET SOME BOOTS! we dont want any peg leg cbr owners runnin around on here

My buddy dumped his bike on the mountain the other day. He was wearing K-Swiss sneakers. Both shoes came off and he never found either one of them. He also ground the smack out of one foot and I found out the other day he had a compound fracture at the ankle!! Boots man boots....

I wear my army issued boots and i will probably get a second pair so i have one for riding and one for duty. That black stuff is gonna get me in trouble. After seeing that picture i will be wearing boots as the standard now.
