Default Switch, Fr. Lever?

I was looking at my clutch lever bracket and noticed there are two cables going into the clutch lever, the actual clutch lever and an electrical wire that connects to a sensor that the clutch lever pushes in. I looked it up on the Honda parts fiche and all it could say was item 6, SWITCH, FR. LEVER. Does anyone know what this does or what its used for?

It lets the ecm know that you have the clutch pulled in. Like the safety swithc on the kickstand!

That makes perfect sense. Kinda, even common sense, I guess it should have dawned on me.
