Default Sitting for almost 3 years!

Hi guys! I'm new here but I've been lurking around the forums for a while. I'm looking for some bike advice.

I found an '00 F4 for $3500 with 1.5k on the clock, Jardin slip-on, black windscreen and a Jet Kit. My only issue with the bike is that it has been sitting for close to three years. I know I would have to do some work to it to get it road ready like new tires, battery, fluids, air filter, plugs, empty the gas tank and get the carbs tuned but I still feel like this is a hell of a deal considering the bike is practically brand new. Are there any major issues I could potentially run into with a bike that hasn't been ran in so long? I have a budget of about 4k to spend on a bike and I know in the end getting this bike running will cost me more than I was initially looking to spend. However I would be more willing to spend the extra money for a bike that has almost no miles vs. bikes from this year with the same mods and about 10-20k miles on them.

What do you guys think, is this a deal or should I consider looking for something that I know is already running and on the road?

buy it....it's not even broke in yet!!!! you pretty much covered what you need to check...other than maybey clean the chain and lube it real good.
My first bike was an 81 yammaha 750 that sat in a chicken coup for several years. I took it home spent about 2 days cleaning it. drained the tank filled it and put in a new battery and it fired on about the fifth revolution!!! I rode that old tank for 6 years with absolutely no problems!!!

sitting won't hurt the bike other than like you said the tires and the carbs ...it sound like a helluva deal..here is the kelly blue book with an expected 29,000 miles in good shape for that year

$4160

good deal, I think you hit the basics. carb clean, tires, plugs, battery, check the brakes and fork seals. oil change.

Killer deal.

buy it as soon as you can. cause with those miles it wont be around long and then you will be out looking for a different bike wishing you would have bought that one.

I bought my '00 F4 in April that had 4500 miles on it for $1800. It needed all new plastics and a headlight. Iv'e spent about $500 on parts on eBay so far and it should be a brand new bike soon. A friend had the bike and was moving across country so he had to sell it. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The picture on my profile is what the bike looked like when I got it. I will post new pics soon when I get the rest of the parts im waiting for on.
