Weird, I know I have a F3, but I can hit the limiter in 6th, indicating somewhere around 162-3ish. LOL I looked quick. I know thats not correct, one because I am -1 tooth in the front and the speedo's arent correct anyways. But on a dyno, my bike topped 6th at 150(it was actually like 149.65, but I like 150 better LOL) So 150 with a -1 front sprocket hmmmmm Im guessing my bike with stick gearing could do 155ish.

OK F2 and F3 differences. NOT much. F3's got ram air, F2's do not. That could be a big difference at topend. Hotter cams in the F3. Higher compression. Really just a horsepower difference (5-7 at the wheel max)

I believe its just youve hit that wall. Your bike cannot muster the ass to get past that speed, and overcome the air pressure its trying to push.

Bottom line............Get some more HP!!!!

Bounce the rev limiter in lower gears yes but I doubt it will do any good when you take 10 mph off the top end.

Actually looking at my dyno run, (this is for F2 and F3's inperticular) after about 11,000's peak power tapered off to redline( which is 13,500). So technically running ti to redline isnt going to get you anywhere quicker. Shifting at the peak would be much more efficient!? Wouldnt you think?

I agree 100%. almost all engines make their peak power before redline. When I drag race I set my gearing so I finish just under redline. usually past peak power but shifting to another gear would waste time (on my 1100XX i liked to run +1/0)

on a road course i want to be geared so that on the longest straight away the bike is nearly tapped out of revs ( most commonly geared -1/+2 for the 1000RR).

Lower it. I gained 7 mph, and I could bounce the rev limit all I wanted. Long straight roads in FL. I had fun till my buddy on a R1 flew by like I was stationary. I'm stupid though, I won't be happy till I see 200. On the speedo, that is.

I doubt my speedo is accurate, but I've seen 192 on it. I doubt I was actually going that fast, but I'd be willing to say I was over 180. Ram Air (cold air induction) definitely helps at the top end. To get my 929 that fast cost alot of $$$ in mods, pcIII, decked, ported and polished heads, full micron exhaust, cams. This was before I knocked a tooth off the front. Now, I have no idea what top speed is, hadn't had the opportunity to test it out, I'm hoping for about 170. (which is what the stock bike was rated for.) On surface streets tho, 100-150 happens in a blink of an eye. Its very very quick. there is a 1/8th mile dragstrip not far from my place, and they have a "race your buddy" night on tuesdays. I may give it a go, weather permitting in the next few weeks. Of course, I'm not a killer drag racer, hell, I"m not a killer in the corners (but I do have fun, and thats whats important.) My riding buddies have taken to calling me "slider" because of my apparent ease at falling down. (LOL) Frame sliders are my friend! So far, no high side, just little low side slides.
