Default dumb question I am sure

I am making the stock gauges from an f2 into a more compact aesthetic package and I am taking them apart but I cant figure out how to get the trip knob off. I am tempted to just yank it and hope its just a press fit but I dont want to break it. anybody know? blkpitbull maybe?

You have the speedometer out of the housing already??? The trip knob is attached to the meter . You should be able to pull it gently and get it off. Its just press fit. Well I will say my trip knob pulled right off, tread easy, and dont break it!!

well its in the white and clear housing still but the black housing is separated. the clear lens is wrapped around the knob so i cant pull it completely apart. i will try to muscle it a bit again but I dont want to break it, I want the knob to stay...

thats the issue, the gauge is trapped by the knob because the clear lens is drilled for the knob. I cant get the gauges out with the knob on...

ok so there is a black rubbery shroud and the gauges. he knob runs through the shroud. I am going to to a hand peice to the gauges and make a custom housing but the shroud is still on the gauges. in all honesty I could cut the shroud but I dont like to be hasty cutting stuff to get it apart...

I am gonna take pics, I will be starting a thread soon, ive started to go into full swing and the only limit factor now will be $$$. But I think my gauge Idea should turn out pretty cool. it will save money, operate much better than aftermarket gauges and still look good!

Default gauges

the knob is glued at the factory.
However, you can carefully cut with a fine small hacksaw.
Then glue back on when assy .
