Default Spray Paint Help!

I am wanting to paint my bronze front caliper carriers on my 04 1krr black. you know the bottoms of the forks. I am just going to spray pain them since i dont want to break down the forks just to get these pieces powdercoated. I am not much of a spray painter and dont even know the best way to prep these pieces so any help would be appreciated. (they are pretty textured) I've on occasion blown fork seals so these pieces have at some time been pretty saturated with fork fluid. whats the best way to clean up up and prep em so the paint sticks good. i am planning on just useing some self etching primer and then prolly just bbq black spray paint. but am open to suggestions

not my bike just a picture of what im wanting to paint

I would

1. Rough up the surfaces with maybe 320 or 400 grit paper. Just rough it up, no need to sand alot.
2. CLEAN it REALlY REALLY good. Take some soapy water, and wash them. then let them air dry or blow them with a air hose!
3. spray them with a good quality primer. I think dupicolor is the best "spray" paint ive used. Do a couple coats, and it should be nice looking when it drys.
4. Spray them with (imo) Caliper paint by dupicolor. You can get it at almost any auto store. First coat a mist. Let it set for maybe 5 minutes and hit it with a decent coat. Let it flash for about 10 minutes and hit it again. i would put on atleast 3 coats, 4 wouldnt hurt!!!

As far as clear??? You can put some on, and itll help protect it, but you need to let the black base totally dry before you start adding clear!

m hmm... what they said. also cover up everything you dont want spraypaint on, if you leave it uncovered and go "ah it wont get that far" or "its on the other side of the bike, itll be fine."

guaranteed itll get paint on it, that shit carries for miles.

bull got it right. Make sure you sand it first and get it nice and rough. this is a n important step or the paint wont stick to the surface.
