Yes, the forum is brand new if you couldn't tell! I don't have a 1000rr but i have riden one and it seems it would be quite hard to power wheelie in third gear unless your really high in the RPMs. Clutching it up seems like it would be scarier but its really not. It comes up so much smoother when you clutch it. Just pull the clutch in with one finger rev it up to 10k and let the clutch out. and cover the rear brake.

CLUTCH it.....I do it on the freeway all the time....The only way to power wheelie in third....U would have to be doing over 180klm/hr where as doing 120klms on the freeway dump the clutch and she comes up smooth as a babys bottom.....Got to love the freeway wheelies....

Pearl,
why third are you hittin 2nd ? I do freeway wheelies in 2nd and stay around 75 -80 mph and can take it up to 95 mph. I have never tried third gear. 110+ mph is way to fast plus IM preety sure it would sound like a 747 landing when you touch the front tire down.

I've done the -1+1 sprocket conversion and I have no intrest in a 3rd gear wheelie. Just way too fast for me.

I can power it up (blip the throttle) in third now but with factory gearing no way. Then again, I"m 220lbs and with factory gears to power it up I'd have been going 120mph to have the rpms where they'd need to be in order to do it. No thanks.

why do you need to be in 3rd gear man?
if your hittin your bp youll never need anything higher then 1 or 2
but if you must know
clutch it up,its easier and a hell of alot safer
and as ty said cover the rear break, make sure your doin em staggered as well
