Default Back Seat will not come off

I bought a Honda 1000rr and was able to open the back seat a few times. I do have a lock and cable in the seat compartment. Yet, now it sounds like the lock will not unlatch the cable or something. I can't open the seat. I took it to the dealer and they wan to take the entire back off to get to the cable.
I went to this site to look at the parts: http://www.hdlparts.com/fiche_section_detail.asp to see if there was an easier way to open the seat.
Any ideas? I hear the the latch move when I turn the key.

Mine does the same thing sometimes. Try pushing down on the seat with your palm directly over the lock ( Where the key is inserted ). Once you do get the seat off put some WD40 on that mechanism.

My rear seat is a little difficult to put back on, since I put on my new exhaust. But Ive never had any problems taking it off.

Don't take it to the dealer! They'll most likely screw it up more and charge you a crapload for it. Like mentioned before, hit the latch with some WD40, just sounds like it's stickin'. Side note, the back is not difficult to take apart but you should not have to to remedy the problem. I've never had a proiblem with mine. Has the bike seen much rain?
