Buying a 2006 1000RR
Yes, I am a noob. I am picking up a 2006 1000RR on tuesday and I am wondering if there's anything special I should know about the bike. I just saw the possible recall on the gas tanks, so I will ask the current owner about that. Do these bikes have any other notable problems or quirks I should know about?? I have read alot of reviews, and it seems that these bikes are very fast, if nothing else. Any info will be appreciated....

Welcome!!! That is a FINE machine you are getting. Personally I think it is the best looking motorcycle made to date.
Give it PLENTY of respect or it's gonna bite (please tell me this isn't your first streetbike).
Problems? Not really. Gas tank recall. Some of them had a problem with the cooling fan hitting the radiator. But that's about it.

welcome to the site man. i cant think of anything off hand that you would really need to know about the bike other then it is a beast of a machine. if this is your first bike make sure that you take it slow. if you dont it will buck and you will be sliding across the ground one way while your bike is going the other. if you dont respect the bike it wont respect you. if this is your first bike i would suggest looking at something smaller to use to on. then move up to something bigger next year, after you have had some time on it and are use to the power that these bikes make. alot of people think man i dont wont a small 600 but even a 6 will throw you back quicker then you would imagine.

I read somewhere that statistically most people new riders and seasoned tend to dump the 1k's while accelerating through a corner. The rear steps out cause the torque can not be applied past a certain lean angle. a 600 on the other hand is a little more freindly in the apex....if you do get it just be sure to take it easy with the right hand when you got her tipped.

Welcome to the site. I own a 06 cbr1000. Like everyone else said respect the bike. It has great handleing, and acceleration. The brakes are good to but I would upgrade the brake lines. And if you put on a aftermarket exhaust also get a powercomander, otherwise youll be running rich. Good choice!

Thanks for the greetings to the forum guys. As for this being my first street bike, I will give you a synopsis of my riding experience. I have ridden bikes of all kinds for a very long time. I had a street bike back in the early to mid 90's. Since that time I have been racing motocross at the amateur level. I have good bike handling skills, as the tracks I ride and race on have jumps in excess of 75 feet. I know this is a different animal, but I guess what I am saying is I know how to respect a bike, as well as how to control the throttle hand. I have ridden friends 600's and was just left wanting more. I don't want to buy a bike to get rid of it next year. I plan on keeping this bike for a while, which is why I wanted to know if there is anything mechanically I should watch out for. Sounds like I am getting a good bike, but tell me how this deal sounds - 2006 5k+ miles, flush mount kit, fender elimiminator kit, 2 helmets, matching Joe Rocket jacket for $7400. The bike is in mint shape.
