I had a street bike back in the early to mid 90's. Since that time I have been racing motocross at the amateur level. I have good bike handling skills, as the tracks I ride and race on have jumps in excess of 75 feet. I know this is a different animal, but I guess what I am saying is I know how to respect a bike, as well as how to control the throttle hand. I have ridden friends 600's and was just left wanting more. I don't want to buy a bike to get rid of it next year. I plan on keeping this bike for a while, which is why I wanted to know if there is anything mechanically I should watch out for. Sounds like I am getting a good bike, but tell me how this deal sounds - 2006 5k+ miles, flush mount kit, fender elimiminator kit, 2 helmets, matching Joe Rocket jacket for $7400. The bike is in mint shape.

Welcome aboard Ike. We look forward to having your input. You did get a good deal on the bike. What insurance are you going through?

It is silver. I didn't like the fact that it wasn't red and black at first, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. Plus, the current owner isn't some young punk who would be out beating on it. He's just a regular guy who is selling it because he has a kid on the way. I'll post some pics when I get home. Thanks for the positive feedback. It looks like I have found a home for my CBR fix. I belong to an MX forum and have met a great bunch of guys with a wealth of knowledge and are eager to share it. I would say I see the same kind of people here, so thanks.

All of my insurance is thru State Farm. I went there last week and they told me $450 for the year. Guys I will be riding with all say that is not a bad price for that bike, as it is higher simply because it has RR at the end of it. All I know is this is going to be my daily driver to work. My F350 gets 10 MPG, so I am going to be way ahead of the game on gas money alone. Plus I get to ride a sweet bike to work.

Welcome top the site, Ike. You got a good deal on the bike and the insurance is reasonable. You'll like stopping for gas now too.

if you add your cars to their policy, the motorcycle $$$ per year will go down about $150. At least it did for me. I was payin $532 a year and then added my dodge magnum and it went down to like $319 a year for full coverage.

+1, State Farm also gave me a better rate for having my vehicles insured through them. They hate me though because I make the payments on time and don't ever have any claims.

I have not only my other vehicles with them, but I also have my homeowners thru them, so I am sure I'm getting a good rate.

So I picked the bike tonight. It is sweet. I will post some pics when I get a chance. I have to say, it's not as intimidating I was expecting it to be. Also, that HESD is kind of weird. Steering it at low speeds takes some getting used to, but then I guess this thing is built for speed not going slow. Anyway, I love it and I am going to register it tomorrow.
